(4) Aeipathy: 

A slight change in the spelling can change the meaning of a word completely. The word of the day is Aeipathy. It is almost a lost word but does exist in dictionaries!

Aeipathy means an enduring and consuming passion bordering on obsession. Aeipathy sounds like apathy ( which means indifference or lack of interest) but means just the opposite. So be very careful while using this word!

Though Aeipathy means 'continued passion'; it has a bit of negativity in its usage. For example if somebody is obsessed with a hobby to the extent that he forgets everything else we may say:

His aeipathy for Stamp Collecting borders at times on the pathological.

Its usage perhaps dropped due to confusion with apathy!

While passion for knowledge or achievements is most welcome, aeipathy for the same obsessively may not be considered desirable.

Another similar sounding word is empathy, which is definitely much  more positive than Apathy and aeipathy!

Whatever may be the CAT result, I will always have empathy with you all students.
